Abstract:
CXCL12 belongs to the CXC chemokine family, interacts with its specific receptors CXCR4 and ACKR3 to form the CXCL12/CXCR4/ACKR3 reaction axis and participates in a variety of physiological and pathological processes, such as physiology involved in embryogenesis, hematopoiesis and angiogenesis. It affects tumor growth, metastasis and invasion, assists in the infection of human immunodeficiency virus and tumor-associated virus, delays the development of rheumatoid arthritis, and promotes bone remodeling in patients with osteoarthritis. In recent years, many studies have found that CXCL12 plays an essential role in the development of the central nervous system and is closely related to diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease and multiple sclerosis. This article reviews the physiological functions of the CXCL12/CXCR4/ACKR3 reaction axis and its role in central nervous system diseases.
