Abstract: |
[Objective] To investigate if the tumor size and CT value influence fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake, and the relationship between SUV and different clinical stage of adenocarcinoma (AC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) in the lungs. [Methods] We reviewed the data of 9 cases of squamous carcinoma without metastases, 13 cases with metastases, 13 cases of adenocarcinoma without metastases and 16 cases with metastases, who underwent FDG PET/CT in the nuclear medicine department of our hospital between June 2010 and May 2011. The correlation between SUVmax and some influencing clinical factors was analyzed, and evaluated the differences SUVmax between AC and SCC through covariance analysis. [Results] Either tumor size (maximum and minimum diameter) or CT value showed significantly correlated with SUVmax (P<0.05). Covariance analysis demonstrated that there was no significant difference between AC and SCC (P>0.05). [Conclusion] SUVmax is significant associated with the tumor size (maximum and minimum diameter) and the CT value, but there is no significant difference of the SUVmax between AC and SCC. |
