Abstract:

Studied the problem that the patients exist space shortages after they were treated by a mean of forth-traction.［Methods］There were 28 patients of Ⅲ molar relationship in the period of teeth displacement, 16 were males and 12 were female. They were treated by means of forth-tr action. After they were released from reverse overjet,8 patients whose molar relationship was Ⅱ, were treated with Pendulum.The other 10 patients with Ⅱ molar relationship were contrast with.［Results］Analysis of X-ray after forth-t raction treatment was that ANB was obviously augmented. Molar relationship and space shortages of 10 patients without Pendulum hadn't obviously changed. But the other 8 patients had neutroclusion and very small space shortages. ［Conclu sions］ The patients after forth-traction treatment had distoclusion. Pendulum were used to treat distoclusion with the anchorage of the frontal bone and the teeth of maxilla. Thus the space shortages would be reduced or disappeared ,and then reduced the possibility of tooth extraction when the patients were treated with fixed orthodotical appliances. And also the lingual incline degree of anteri or teeth were reduced when they came into line. Thus they are more beautiful . 
