Abstract:
To study the alteration of QT interval dispersion in hyper tensive patients with different left ventricular geometric patterns. [Methods] The left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and the relative wall thickness (RWT) were calculated using echocardiographic data, and patients' left ventricular geometry was divided into four patterns based on LVMI and RWT. The left ventricular geometry alteration and QT interval dispersion in 117 patients with essential hypertension were studied, and 45 healthy persons used as control. [Results] The QT interval dispersion in different left ventricular geometric groups of hypertensive patients was all larger than the normal control group except the normal geometry group. The concentric hypertrophy group and the eccentric hypertrophy group had the larger of QT interval dispersion than the concentric remodeling group, and the concentric remodeling group was larger than normal geometry group. [Conclusions] The QT interval dispersion is different in patients with different left ventricular geometric patterns. The larger is the cardiac structure alteration and LVMI, the more dispersed the QT interval.
