Abstract:
[Objective] To investigate the prevalence of malocclusion classified by Angle's Classification in Dalian area, and to analyze the rules and characteristic of the craniofacial types among different Angle's classifications. [Methods] A random sample of 503 patients who came to clinic to ask for treatment since 2000 was surveyed and was classified according to Angle's classification. Investigator calculated the angle of SNA, SNB and ANB and evaluated the relationship between maxilla and mandible and discussed the reason why there was an extreme difference between Angle's classification and sagittal maxilla-mandibular classification of a same patient. [Results] There were 220 cases among 503 patients, which were 43.74% for Angle I, 162 cases in Angle II, which was 32.21% and 24.05% for Angle III, in which there were 121 patients. There were 229 patients whose craniofacial type was N/N, which was 45.53% in all cases and it was the most common one. We didn't find any patient who was P/R during the research. [Conclusion] Angle I is the most common type of malocclusion in Dalian area and the majority of the maxilla-mandibular relationship is N/N, with N/P, R/R and R/N following in order.
