Abstract:
[Objective]To explore the effect and patching material for large perforation of tympanic membrane. [Methods]Collected 87 cases with perforation large than 20% of the tympanic membrane, a group of 58 cases received external patching for perforations, the other group of 29 cases didn't receive external patching, compared the two groups. The material of patching is disc of tissue for scope.[Results]The patched group, 53 of 58 cases are recovered, the rate is 91.4%, the average time is 21 days, 7 of 58 cases were suffered from inflammation, the rate is 12.1%.The non-patched group, 18 of 29 cases are recovered, the rate is 62.0%, the average time is 35 days, 5 of 29 cases were suffered inflammation, the rate is 17.2%.[Conclusion]External patching for large perforation of tympanic membrane by tissue is a good measure, it can help recovering and lessening the patient's conductive hearing loss and occasional tinnitus. The tissue for scope is suitable material for patching.
